The River Taff
The river Taff (Afon Taff in Welsh) starts from two sources in the Brecon Beacons. The Taff Fawr (Big Taff) in the West and the Taff Fechan (Little Taff) in the East. The sources meet, at the confluence, in Merthyr Tydfil. The river then flows predominantly southwards to Cardiff city.
Many rivers and streams join the Taff on it journey; including the River Cynon, River Rhondda, Taff Bargoed, Nant Clydach and Nant Brynau. The Rivers Taff and Ely now share a mouth in Cardiff bay since the Barrage was built.
